Mediterranean Tour: Venice, Rome, Pisa, Milan, Florence, Amalfi, and Pompeii, Italy; Barcelona, Spain; Cannes, France; and Monte Carlo, Monaco

After my study abroad trip to Italy, my parents and grandmother flew over to meet me in Milan. From there, we spent a day exploring the canals in Venice, and then flew to Barcelona. In Barcelona, we boarded a Mediterranean cruise that took us to three stops in Italy and two stops in Southern France (where we got a bonus of getting to tour Monte Carlo as well). I can't explain how amazing this trip was; I got to see many of the European cities and landmarks I had always dreamed of visiting. For 3 weeks I felt like I was living a real life version of a Travel Channel show.

LEISURE TRAVEL

a few of the life-changing places I have adventured in

Paris, France

Talk about the magic of celebrating a wedding in the City of Love! I had the pleasure of visiting Paris as a wedding guest of a close family friend. It was a fairytale-worthy ceremony that lasted five days throughout some of the city's most well known landmarks and museums. Some of my favorite memories from this trip include taking a dinner cruise with the bride's and groom's families down the River Seine, finally seeing the Mona Lisa in person at the Louvre, watching the sunset atop the Eiffel Tower and seeing its lights cascade over the city, and dancing the night away at the Automobile Club during the wedding reception. This experience was truly breathtaking from start to finish!

Cancun, Mexico

This was the ultimate girls' escape, all about kicking back and relaxing on the beach. Four friends and I had just successfully completed another year in college. After a long round of final exams, we were ready to get out of the classroom and into the ocean. Besides hanging out by the pool and playing in some of this continents' prettiest waves, we pumped up our adrenaline with all of my favorite water activities: jet-skiing, snorkeling, parasailing, and speed-boating!

Las Vegas, Nevada

I spent two different super special holidays in the Entertainment Capital of the World: New Year's Eve and my 21st birthday! (Well, it felt like a holiday.) While I am not much of a gambler, I had the time of my life in this city venturing down the strip in awe of all the casino-hotels. I will probably always be stunned by the sheer grandeur of these works of art! Highlights from my spectacular times in Vegas include taking my first helicopter ride over the Strip on my birthday; zip lining through Fremont Street, the old Vegas strip; bringing in the New Year surrounded by friends in one of the most gorgeous venues I've seen; and riding three 1,000-feet high thrill rides while experiencing one of Vegas's best views on top of the Stratosphere Tower.

Cruising and the Caribbean Islands

Cruising has been a long-time family vacation. We can't get enough of the enormous floating mini-cities and spectacular Caribbean beaches. After over 10 cruises, you can bet it doesn't take long for my sea legs to ever kick in. Over the years, I've spent countless 1-day stints at many of the Islands found in the Caribbean Sea, with my favorites being Jamaica, St. Thomas, and St. Maartin. I really enjoy being able to visit various locations on one trip, and the cruise ships are so grand, each one is a destination in itself!

West Coast: Los Angeles, California and Seattle, Washington

During winter '11-'12, I accompanied a long-time friend to Los Angeles for her birthday; following, I tagged along with my parents to LA's colder, northern counterpart Seattle. In LA, I was thankful for the sunshine and the short escape from Maryland's chilly winters as we strolled along Venice Beach and window shopped in Beverly Hills. Seattle was much, much colder but I really enjoyed its buzzing atmosphere and lively landmarks. Pike Place Market's had the most deliciously fresh smoked salmon (yumm); the Space Needle's revolving restaurant had hands down the best steak ever and a wonderful view from the top; and finally, Seattle's roaring football stadium, the "Home of the 12th Man," was an unforgettable place to end my trip as I visited with my family and watched the Seahawks, with my cousin as the punt returner, win a very special Monday night game.

Miami, Florida

With my favorite U.S. beach destination only being a 2 hour plane ride away, I've found myself in Miami many, many times, and it's grown to be my go-to destination for a quick getaway. Whether it is a two day stopover with family before boarding a cruise, a girls' birthday weekend, or Spring Break with my college buddies, Miami never disappoints!

Lisbon, Portugal; Barcelona and Ibiza, Spain

I could think of no other way to capstone the completion of undergrad than with a couple of weeks city-hopping abroad, and I had the time of my life doing so! Lisboa's old European charm captivated me, and I knew right away that it was a city I will have to return to. I enjoyed the city's biggest holiday, the Feast/Festival of St. Anthony, celebrating like the locals, whose euphoric spirit crawled through each cobblestoned street and beguiled any tourist who came to explore them. In Barcelona, I was introduced to a whole new world of music at the Sònar Music Festival, and I got to kick back and enjoy Island life, European style, in Ibiza. I made friends with like-minded adventurers from across the globe, and I loved both hearing my new travel buddies' tales of fulfilling their wanderlust and making memories with them that will last a lifetime.
